HongKongbikes.com
rating: tip top
New Territories - Sai Kung (but well worth the trip)
This place is already an institution. And well done lads. Spun off from European Motors (they are next door) they offer a degree of service and friendliness and long term customer approach that many bikers dream of. Expect to pay a bit more for it, but then guarantees, test rides and everything sorted for peace of mind is very well worth it when paying a goodly sum for a used bike. Speak to Hamish - his English is not so bad

SANWA
rating: Excellent
Kowloon side

Rated by everyone I know as one of the leading stores in Hong Kong - but mainly for sports bikes.  They are heavily into racing, and organise the 125cc races over in HoneyLake (Schenzhen).
They are probably the best for servicing bikes - and their shop has grown greatly and now offers a good choice of gear; particularly leathers and protective clothing.
Down side is the location - although being so close to Hung Hing it is worth a trip to take in both.

MAX MOTORCYCLES
rating: excellent
Kowloon side
An excellent shop offering servicing and repairs, with good spares and parts as well as bikes, and bike bits. These guys (talk to Fai the owner or Gong Sin head spanner; both speak excellent English) do most of the prepping for bikes for racing in Zhuhai and Macau; so they know their stuff.

CHEUNG KEE

Private bike sales advertised in window. Probably the best place to look for second hand bikes privately. Also good for spares.

HUNG HING co
rating
Kowloon side - right next door to Sanwa.
Run by a load of very nice women. Just clothing for now. Cheapest Arai helmets and Alpinstar boots. Try for discount. (no bikes or spares)

Bike showroom. Second hand and new. Good selection and reasonable prices.

NEON ACTION
rating: top for dynos and tricky stuff.
HONG KONG side
One of - if not the best - shop for servicing Hong Kong side. Only repairs and servicing. And very good at race prepping.
If you want to add a few bhp to your bike, then this is the place. Also the only outfit in town (other than Sanwa of course) to really know their way around a dyno...so if you want to get a stage 1 or 2 or 3 tune done, then it really is either here or Sanwa.

MAN WAI

One of the best showrooms for bikes - new or second hand. Jonny - owner is a good bloke, and speaks excellent English. Can be a bit pricey, but most bikes are in good nick and low mileage. Servicing is not so good.

This is the place for Harleys and big cruisers. Hidden away down a back street near Tin Hau, they have a nice little shop. But if you want to see loadsa Harleys, in the most amazing showroom, then go to Singapore.

Not so big on showroom place, since the bikes suffer in comparison to the cars. And the showroom is a real pain in the ass to get to. BUT, and this is a big BUT, they are extremely professional and cordial. They will also lend you a bike for a test if you are serious about buying. NO OTHER SHOP OR AGENT will do this, except HongKongbikes.com. Maybe that is why you see so many beemers these days.

INSURANCE
Expats pay a premium here because...they are expats, and as everyone knows they have $s floating around them when they walk into a shop to buy anything. This is true in general for all the bike shops. If you really want to get something cheaper, then ask a Chinese friend to do it for you. I saved HK$800 on my insurance by doing this.
